Volunteer for Loneliness Awareness Week 2023
Loneliness Awareness Week is just a few weeks away! We're looking for short-term volunteers to join our team who can help us make this year's campaign the biggest and best yet!
We are looking for short term admin volunteers to support our small, friendly team as we work on our annual Loneliness Awareness Week (LAW) campaign, which runs from June 12th-18th 2023. Can you give a day (or more) of time a week, from now until mid-June? From our office in St Pauls, Bristol, you’ll be using your confident and friendly phone manner to reach out to people from the commercial, public and private sectors. You’ll be helping to spread the word about the LAW project, building rapport and developing partnerships. You must: Be over 18, be able to come into our office in St Pauls, be confident using the phone, have strong networking skills, be good at building rapport and developing partnerships and have good computer and online research skills.
Brought to you by Marmalade Trust, Loneliness Awareness Week is dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and getting people talking about it, across the UK and beyond. For the first time, LAW runs for a whole week from 12th - 18th June and this year's theme is “Connection Matters”. Check out our website > lonelinessawarenessweek.org
How to apply
If you are interested and available one day or more a week in May/June, email: info@marmaladetrust.org or phone: 07942 359343. Local travel expenses can be reimbursed.

Volunteering opportunities
Through our Christmas Cheer and Marmalade Companion projects, we identify the people most at risk from experiencing loneliness in society, signpost them to the right support and resources and help empower them to make new friendships and connections. Volunteering with us is an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of older people in your community experiencing long-term loneliness. It's also a great chance to make new friends, have fun and feel connected.
Please note, we have successfully recruited volunteers for our Marmalade Companions project are we are no longer accepting new applications. To be the first to hear of new volunteering opportunities, sign up to our newsletter here. Thank you!
A few of our volunteering champions...
"My life is better with Irene in it"
Sammy met Irene through volunteering with the Marmalade Trust. After the project ended, they mutually decided they wanted to stay in touch and a lovely friendship has grown!
Intergenerational friends
Marmalade Companion Duncan became friends with Ken and supported him to find groups and activities in his local area. "I have more in common and more in-depth chats with Ken than I have with colleagues and friends of my own age."
Giving gifts of companionship
Joss wanted to volunteer at Christmas because he loves making new friends and spending time with people from other generations. “The day is filled with fun and laughter and joy, and it’s a great thing to be a part of.”
We're so grateful to the UWE paramedic students who have generously volunteered their time and skills to help us put together and deliver gifts for Marmalade Members across Bristol as part of our Christmas Cheer project.
