We couldn’t do what we do without the amazing support of our volunteers!
Join our volunteer family
Each year, our small team at Marmalade HQ are overwhelmed with how many kind people offer their time to support their community. Through our Christmas Cheer and Marmalade Companion projects, we reach out to those most at risk of loneliness, guiding them to vital support and empowering them to make new friendships and connections. Joining us as a volunteer not only changes lives but also offers a chance to forge lasting friendships, enjoy meaningful experiences, and truly connect with your community.
** All volunteer positions for Christmas Cheer 2023 have now been filled! However, we are looking for volunteers for our Companions project. Read more here or email companions@marmaladetrust.org to let us know you're interested.

Who are Marmalade members?
Our Marmalade members vary in age and ability, but all experience social isolation and/or loneliness and would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day. Some of our members spend most of their time at home, so they will require a friendly face and supportive and reassuring volunteers around them. Christmas Day can be the loneliest, most painful day of the year for those experiencing chronic loneliness, but joining us for our Christmas Cheer events can empower members to make new friendships and connections in their community.
"It means everything to know someone cares. Without Marmalade Trust, I wouldn't have spoken to or seen anyone over Christmas. I'm so grateful."
Where are the host venues?
Our Marmalade Trust Christmas Day events are held at pubs or restaurants in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. This year we anticipate holding Christmas Day events in 10 venues for 120 members, supported by volunteers. Our members enjoy feeling like part of the family, and being around other groups enjoying the festive spirit on Christmas Day!
