Sam Whatley - Chair

Sam was appointed chair of the Board in February 2022 after joining our Board in August 2020, having supported us for many years. He describes Marmalade Trust as a brilliant example of “what can happen when one person is prepared to go all out to make their vision a reality”. Sam has lived in the West Country most of his life, he is a qualified finance professional and has worked in a variety of commercial roles before moving into consultancy. He brings experience of business and commercial strategy, as well as governance and compliance. His focus is on providing a secure, stable business platform to enable the vision of Marmalade Trust to be fully realised.

Rebecca Purchase

Rebecca joined our Board in September 2020. Rebecca is a qualified Solicitor who specialises in Wills and Probate. She is a full member of the Society for Trusts and Estates Practitioners and Solicitors for the Elderly. Professionally, she deals with a number of vulnerable and elderly clients which is how she became aware of Marmalade Trust.   Rebecca has been actively fundraising and supporting Marmalade Trust since 2014. Rebecca is also a member of Bristol Junior Chamber where she held the role of Social Chair from 2015 to 2017 and 2019 to 2020.

Hatty Goodwin

Hatty joined our Board in March 2022. Hatty is an investment consultant providing advice to corporate pension scheme trustees. Her work involves highlighting the importance of using pension scheme assets to invest for positive Social impact and she also specialises in improving the long term security of final salary pension scheme members’ benefits. Hatty is also Chair of Trustees for the Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra and a massive music fan, both playing and listening. Through personal and professional experience Hatty has been exposed to how loneliness affects our whole community; forget the stereotypes loneliness can, and does, impact us all. Hatty brings expertise in the governance of trusts, loves watching rugby, playing golf and has a delightful, squeaky flatmate called Percy (a guinea pig) who joins in most of her phone calls at full volume!

Olly Reid

Olly joined our Board in March 2022. Recognised by Enterprise Nation as one of the Top 50 Business Advisers in the UK for the past three years running, Olly first supported the Marmalade Trust through coaching our CEO as part of an Entrepreneur Accelerator. A former teacher with a passion for helping others to thrive, Olly now runs the NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator across the Midlands, South West and Wales alongside running his own purpose-driven business ‘HUM4NS’ which is a movement for positive change that teaches us to #behum4nkind to ourselves and others. With a background in education and a history of working with purpose-driven charities and social enterprises, Olly joins our board as an expert in strategy, business growth and human development, but perhaps more importantly, brings an intrinsic passion for helping others to find belonging.
