Legacy 1

Legacy giving.

Leaving a gift in your Will is a great way of supporting the Marmalade Trust. Your gift would help us continue our important work in raising awareness of loneliness and supporting the loneliest people in our region to make friends. Gifts made to charity are exempt from inheritance tax.

There are three different types of gifts you can make in your Will:

  1. Pecuniary Gift -  a pecuniary gift is a fixed sum of money i.e £1,000.00

  2. Specific Gift - specific gift is a gift of a specific valuable asset such as jewellery, shares, property or antiques.

  3. Residuary Gift – a share of your residuary estate. Your residuary estate is your estate after the payment of liabilities, specific gifts, pecuniary legacies and testamentary expenses. This could be expressed as a percentage or a fraction of your estate, i.e 1/3 of your estate or 10% of your estate.

When writing your Will we would recommend you speak to a Solicitor to ensure your wishes are met. If you decide to leave a gift to the Marmalade Trust in your Will then you will need our name, address and registered charity number: Registered Address: The Marmalade Trust, Burton Sweet, The Clock Tower, Old Weston Road, Flax Bourton, Bristol, BS48 1UR. Registered Charity Number: 1174217

Suggested wording to leave a gift to the Marmalade Trust in your Will:

If you are leaving a gift to charity you should always include the following in your Will: I declare that receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of any charitable body benefitting under my Will shall be a sufficient discharge to my trustees.

Loneliness is a natural human emotion and we need to remove the stigma and shame surrounding it. It's something we experience, not something that defines us. The good news is that we can all play a part in raising awareness of loneliness, and the more we do, the easier it will be for everyone to talk about it.
