Community Christmas

Connecting people with local hosts offering warmth and friendship on Christmas Day.

What is Community Christmas?

Community Christmas helps make sure no one spends Christmas Day alone unless they want to. If you are looking for a community event in your area to join on Christmas Day, take a look at the Connections Map to find one near you.

If you are holding a festive gathering in your community, we can connect you with older or isolated individuals looking for company and seasonal cheer on 25 December. Together, we can make Christmas a time of warmth, friendship, and community for everyone.

For Christmas Cheer, which takes place in the Bristol, South Glos/North Somerset area only, please visit the Christmas Cheer page.

Join a Community Christmas celebration near you

If you’re looking at a Christmas spent alone and would prefer to join others for a
seasonal celebration, Community Christmas may be able to connect you with a local
gathering or activity hosted by community groups, volunteers, not-for-profit
organisations or pubs and cafes.

Community Christmas is for adults who are:

  • 18 or over

  • Able to make their own travel and attendance arrangements

  • Living alone and will otherwise be alone on 25 December

As Community Christmas grows, more activities will be added each year - so if there isn’t something near you this Christmas, please check back again next year.

Connections Map

The Connections Map showcases all Community Christmas events, helping you to find a local gathering on Christmas Day. Once your event is registered, it will be added to the map so we can signpost guests in your area.

Why your role as host matters

Hosting a Community Christmas event is a simple but powerful way to share warmth and connection with people who might otherwise spend Christmas Day alone. You might offer an activity, event or meal in a local hall, café, pub or community space, creating a welcoming place for people to come together.

In 2025, Community Christmas brought people together in communities across the UK. Discover the impact in our Community Christmas 2025 Impact Report
