Launched by Marmalade Trust in 2017, Loneliness Awareness Week is a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and creating supportive communities by having open, honest conversations.

Loneliness is a feeling most of us will experience - but stigma stops us from talking about it and prevents us from facing it together. That’s why the campaign tagline for Loneliness Awareness Week 2025 was Meeting Loneliness Together. By talking about loneliness openly and meeting it together, we can reduce stigma and build more compassionate, connected communities.

James, Lara and Sam were the leading speakers at the Loneliness Awareness Week 2025 panel event at Tobacco Factory, on Monday 9 June. We enjoyed an insightful evening of discussion about loneliness and connection, and came away feeling inspired for the week ahead!

This year’s campaign challenged perceptions of loneliness. Through storytelling, community engagement, and accessible resources, people were empowered to speak up, listen without judgment, and create environments where people could feel safe to say, “I feel lonely.”

We’re immensely proud of and grateful to the individuals, businesses, organisations, and community groups who joined us in Meeting Loneliness Together by starting conversations and joining or hosting connection-building activities. According to our feedback survey, 96% of respondents felt 'quite' or 'extremely connected' after taking part in Loneliness Awareness Week, and 94% would recommend the campaign to others.

In Weston, artists and community groups joined together to decorate handprints, 'raising a hand' to acknowledge that they have felt lonely and that others who feel the same are not alone.

6497 connection-building activities and events took place for Loneliness Awareness Week across the UK and globally. Supporters hosted coffee mornings, walks, classroom discussions, and more. Many added their activities to the Connections Map to show their support and help build a sense of togetherness during the week.

Across schools, workplaces, communities, and social media, people used our toolkit filled with ideas and ready-to-use resources to spark important conversations about loneliness. People also engaged with our online guides to deepen their understanding of what loneliness is and how it affects individuals and communities.

In Bristol, Monday Club drop-in sessions are run every week, 11.30am until 2pm, by BS3 Community Development. During Loneliness Awareness Week, the club took part in yoga and bingo as well as enjoying a meal together.

Loneliness Awareness Week 2025 was hugely successful in raising awareness, normalising conversations and reducing stigma, but only because so many individuals and organisations chose to support the campaign. We could not do it without your support, so thank you so much!

A more detailed summary of this year’s Loneliness Awareness Week, including lots of fantastic examples of connection from throughout the week, is available to read in our Impact Report which can be downloaded from the Loneliness Awareness Week website.

From meeting the Minister for Loneliness Stephanie Peacock, to presenting to London local authorities, to attending leadership roundtables at the Houses of Parliament, our Founder and CEO Amy Perrin, and COO Tara Fisher, had a very busy week making connections in London!
